"CONTROL" AND GOVERNMENT ~ The
American colonists dreamed of political freedom and liberty while stale
Europeans were still dreaming of population control under various forms of
"socialism" which had been called by different names like
Levellerism, Equalitarianism, Egalitarianism, all meaning to establish lateral
equality under the controls of a strong centralized government.
Those who sought liberty believed that men were and should be free to make whatever kind of a fool of themselves as they might wish without government interference. This was deemed a threat by Puritans and their apostate descendants who want to control the lives of others in every way possible.
The New England colonists had sought to control nearly every nation in Europe before blessing North American with their violent presence. These whining and controlling radicals has been kicked out of nearly every nation of Europe, because of their militant demands and attempts to take over European nations by force. What these radicals had failed to do in Europe these radical equalitarians succeeded doing in North America by remaking the fledgling American Republic of the USA into a radically centralized totalitarian government that would seek to control everything in the lives its subjects.
Essentially liberty leaves men alone to control themselves. Socialism/democracy leaves no one alone to be free, but seeks to control everything about how they think and how they are "permitted" to live.
