The false myth that Lincoln was a Christian is one of the many myths about Lincoln mostly promoted by the 120 Lincoln reenactors. Lincoln's wife said that he was not a Christian as did his law partner even long after Lincoln death. The myth arose to comfort those who had lost sons fighting the South. They could not face having lost a family member at the hands of an "unbeliever." Even the Lincoln-lovers are having to back off of this assertion. Lincoln and his wife used mediums and some wild stories were spread about these sessions. It does not disturb me so much that someone would believe what the Lincoln Impersonators say about Lincoln, as the fact that their concept of Christian behaviour would allow for such a spiritual atrocity.
